Moses Anshell helps save Mexico
A national rock band with a great live show. A concert site right by the ocean in Mexico. What could go wrong?
A swine flu outbreak. New passport requirements. The worst economy since the Great Depression. And drug violence along the border.
Moses Anshell helped promote the three-day 2009 “Circus Mexicus’’ music festival for Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, including advance and on-site media relations, general public relations, and landing corporate sponsors.
Even six weeks before the show, there were serious questions about whether the concert was a go as problem after problem erupted south of the border. Working closely with Insight Management and the band’s management team, Moses Anshell :
• Landed advance national media coverage that included the Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood Insider and Houston Chronicle.
• Secured five corporate sponsors that donated thousands of dollars worth of cash and products.
• Used grassroots promotions and social media to aggressively target the casual or non fans of the band, converting new fans and leading to increased interest. Moses Anshell also helped create a promotional blitz in the band’s hometown to add to the buzz.
The end result? More than 2,000 people celebrated life and song in Rocky Point, crossing the border and pushing aside all of the fears. The attendance beat even the band’s expectations.
“I knew you’d make it,’’ front man Roger Clyne told the swelling crowd as the band began to play its first song. “Count us in, never count us out and you can count on us.’’ You also can count on Moses Anshell.
